Alice In Wonderland
Designed contemporary costumes for a dance company’s spring ballet, specifically for the characters Alice and the March Hare. The goal was to balance modern aesthetics with accuracy, creating garments that complemented both the performers and the narrative while allowing freedom of movement.

MARCH HARE
Alice in Wonderland is a classic story written by Lewis Carroll in 1865. It follows a young girl named Alice who falls down a rabbit hole into a fantastical world filled with strange and whimsical characters, talking animals, and nonsensical adventures.

Insider Information
For Alice, this version softens the neckline while emphasizing the waist, creating balance and elegance. A fuller romantic tutu features a more elaborate blue fabric overlay, paired with a pleated white tulle petticoat beneath. The look is completed with puffy lantern sleeves, a corseted bodice, and a bow at the back, blending classic innocence with refined theatrical detail.

For the March Hare, I drew inspiration from both Tim Burton’s eccentric 2010 adaptation and the original 1865 illustrations by John Tenniel. My focus was on merging the muted energy of Burton’s design with the classic Victorian touches of the original, most notably in the vest and tailored jacket.
